A lot has been written about the treasure on Oak Island. So, is it an urban legend? Depends on your perspective.
Want to find out more about the world’s greatest treasure hunt? The Oak Island Money Pit is the site of the world’s longest running hunt for treasure which continues to this day. If you thought pirates, lost treasure, secret codes and mysterious maps belonged in story books, then think again.

Wow…I really need to visit the resort. Do you have day trips from the resort?

Unfortunately, the island is privately owned and the public are no longer able to gain access. However, once a year, usually in June, the island does open up for guided tours to the public. These are called “Oak Island Days”.
You can contact the resort for more information to see if the island will be opening to the public again this year.
Cheers!

Dear Kristen…
Oak Island Toursim Society was dissolved in 2009 and therefore there are no longer Explore Oak Island Days.
However- a new group has emerged called the Friends of Oak Island Society and regular island tours are becoming a feature. Two weekends with over 12 tours took place recently and several hundred people had the opportunity to walk the island with a wonderful tour guide. There is a special package at Atlantica Hotel & Marina (formerly Oak Island Resort) on Nov. 19-21, 2010 where there will be a private tour of Oak Island.

In addition the Friends of Oak Island Society are working with the island owners to bring many opportunities for the public to tour Oak Island in 2011 and these dates will be announced on the society website in the New Year http://www.friendsofoakisland.com
Kindest Regards
Carolyn Ekins
